DREAMER soundtrack news

Violinist Joshua Bell Performs on the Original Soundtrack Recording of Dreamer: Inspired by a True Story, an Original Score by Oscar Nominee John Debney, Featuring Bethany Dillon

Sony Classical Soundtrack CD Released October 18, 2005

Starring Kurt Russell, Dakota Fanning and Kris Kristofferson, Dreamer Opens Nationwide Friday, October 21, 2005

NEW YORK, Sept. 8 -- Grammy Award-winning violinist Joshua Bell will be the soloist in the original score by Oscar-nominated composer John Debney for the new DreamWorks Pictures film Dreamer: Inspired by a True Story, and Sony Classical will release the film's original soundtrack recording, which also features an end-title song by 16-year-old singing sensation Bethany Dillon. Written and directed by John Gatins and inspired by a true story, Dreamer stars Kurt Russell, Dakota Fanning and Kris Kristofferson, and it opens nationwide on Friday, October 21, 2005. Sony Classical will release the original soundtrack recording on Tuesday, October 18, 2005.

Bell's performance on the Dreamer soundtrack follows his acclaimed contribution earlier this year to the soundtrack of the English film Ladies in Lavender (nominated for a Classical Brit Award) and, earlier, his performances on the soundtracks of Iris and the Oscar-winning The Red Violin - all heard on Sony Classical soundtrack recordings.

Composer John Debney was an Oscar nominee in 2005 for his score for Mel Gibson's film The Passion of the Christ. He has also written scores most recently for Sin City, Christmas with the Kranks, The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, Raising Helen, The Whole Ten Yards, Elf, Bruce Almighty, The Hot Chick, The Tuxedo and the Spy Kids films. For his work in television, Debney is a three-time Emmy Award winner and a five-time nominee.

Singing sensation Bethany Dillon, who co-wrote (with Ed Cash) and performs the title song of Dreamer: Inspired by a True Story over the film's end credits, made her recording debut last year with a self-titled album that brought her GMA Music Award nominations for New Artist, Female Vocalist, Pop/Contemporary Album, and Pop/Contemporary Song of the Year.

Inspired by the dramatic fate of Mariah's Storm -- a promising filly that suffered a potentially career-ending injury in 1993 but recovered to become a champion the following year -- Dreamer tells the story of a father who, for the love his daughter, sacrifices everything to save the life of an injured racehorse and bring the promising filly back to her former glory. Kurt Russell plays the father Ben Crane, with Dakota Fanning as his young daughter Cale and Kris Kristofferson as his distant father.

Dreamer: Inspired by a True Story was directed by John Gatins, from his own screenplay, marking his directorial debut. Mike Tollin and Brian Robbins are the producers, with Ashok Amritraj, John Jashni, Bill Johnson, Stacy Cohen and Caitlin Scanlon executive producing. The cast also includes Oscar nominee Elisabeth Shue, David Morse, Freddy Rodriquez, Luis Guzman and Oded Fehr.

One of the world's most acclaimed classical violinists, Joshua Bell is an exclusive Sony Classical artist. The most recent addition to his remarkably varied catalogue is a new live recording of the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto with Michael Tilson Thomas conducting the Berlin Philharmonic. His previous recording Romance of the Violin (also available as a DualDisc) was named by Billboard Magazine as the 2004 Classical Recording of the Year, and Bell was named Classical Artist of the Year.

TIM BURTON'S CORPSE BRIDE soundtrack news

Tim Burton's Corpse Bride Soundtrack Rises to the Occasion With New Music From Danny Elfman

BURBANK, CA -- 08/25/05 -- Three-time Oscar®-nominated composer Danny Elfman has once again joined forces with director Tim Burton to create the evocative and atmospheric original score for Tim Burton's Corpse Bride, the eagerly awaited new stop-motion animation film starring Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter and Emily Watson.

Set for release September 20th on Warner Sunset Records/Warner Bros. Records, "The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack to Tim Burton's Corpse Bride" highlights an original score by Elfman, who has previously collaborated with Burton on such acclaimed films as Beetlejuice, Batman, Big Fish and the recent Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Elfman relates, "Like The Nightmare Before Christmas, writing songs for Corpse Bride was a real treat. Tim's visuals make the perfect compliment for the kind of stuff I love doing most. These wonderfully fun, dark, offbeat tales are the perfect platform for me to write odd, slightly twisted, obscure styles such as my favorite musical era... 1930s jazz. I only hope we get to do more in the future." The soundtrack also features four new songs written by Elfman, three of which include lyrics co-written by John August, including "According To Plan" (performed by Albert Finney, Joanna Lumley, Tracey Ullman and Paul Whitehouse); "Tears To Shed" (performed by Helena Bonham Carter, Jane Horrocks and Enn Reitel), "Remains Of The Day" (performed by Danny Elfman) and "The Wedding Song," written by Danny Elfman (performed by Danny Elfman, Jane Horrocks, Paul Baker, Alison Jiear and Gary Martin).

Continuing in the dark, romantic tradition of The Nightmare Before Christmas and Edward Scissorhands, Tim Burton's Corpse Bride tells the story of Victor (Johnny Depp), who is whisked away to the underworld to marry the mysterious Corpse Bride (Helena Bonham Carter) while his real bride, Victoria (Emily Watson), waits bereft in the Land of the Living.

JUST LIKE HEAVEN soundtrack due 9/13

Soundtrack Album Features Katie Melua, Amos Lee, Imogen Heap, Pete Yorn, Bowling For Soup and More Performing New Versions of Classic Pop and Rock Songs

Columbia Records/Sony Music Soundtrax CD in Stores Tuesday, September 13

DreamWorks Romantic Comedy - Featuring Reese Witherspoon, Mark Ruffalo, and Jon Heder - Opens Nationwide On Friday, September 16

NEW YORK, Aug. 22 -- Columbia Records/Sony Music Soundtrax is
set to release Just Like Heaven -- Music From The Motion Picture, the soundtrack album from the eagerly-awaited new romantic comedy, on Tuesday, September 13.

"Just Like Heaven," a DreamWorks film starring Reese Witherspoon, Mark Ruffalo and Jon Heder (in his first film role since "Napoleon Dynamite"), opens nationwide on Friday, September 16.

Just Like Heaven -- Music From The Motion Picture opens with international hitmaker Katie Melua (Britain's highest-selling female artist in 2004 and awarded Best International Newcomer at Germany's ECHO Awards in 2005) delivering an emotionally taut performance of the film's title song, originally an alternative rock hit for The Cure, whose 1987 version is also on the album.

Just Like Heaven -- Music From The Motion Picture includes original songs by Philly's soulful singer-songwriter Amos Lee ("Colors") and pop wizard Beck ("Strange Invitation") alongside contemporary artists performing finely realized covers of best-loved pop, rock, punk and alternative classics: British singer-songwriter Imogen Heap provides a sultry rendition of the Classics IV's "Spooky"; alt-rock singer-songwriter Pete Yorn sings The Temptations' "Just My Imagination (Running Away With Me)"; former Letters to Cleo singer Kay Hanley performs the Iggy Pop/David Bowie composition, "Lust For Life"; Bowling For Soup deliver a rollicking take on Ray Parker's "Ghostbusters"; hip-hop chanteuse Kelis shakes up a frothy version of the Pretenders' "Brass In Pocket"; and Emerson Hart, guitarist and vocalist for Tonic, uncorks his own "Bad Case of Lovin' You," a John "Moon" Martin composition popularized by the late Robert Palmer.

The soundtrack album includes original catalog treasures from The Cars ("Good Times Roll" from 1978), Chakachas ("Jungle Fever" from 1971), and Screamin' Jay Hawkins ("I Put A Spell On You" from 1956) as well as five selections -- "Her Picture," "David Alone," "I'm Seeing Someone," "Machines Don't Know Everything," and "I Remember You" -- from the film's score by composer Rolfe Kent. Kent, who has scored more than 30 films including "Fight Club" and "Wedding Crashers," was nominated for a Golden Globe for his music for "Sideways" and earned BMI Film Music Awards for "Legally Blonde," "Legally Blonde 2," and "Freaky Friday."

The music for "Just Like Heaven" echoes and mirrors the film's narrative and emotional arcs, providing subtle counterpoint to the movie's action while illuminating the characters and their motivations.

"Just Like Heaven" is a romantic comedy based on French novelist Marc Levy's bestselling debut, If Only It Were True. Directed by Mark Waters ("Mean Girls" "Freaky Friday"), "Just Like Heaven" stars Reese Witherspoon, Mark Ruffalo, Donal Logue, Dina Waters, Ben Shenkman and Jon Heder.

Set in San Francisco, "Just Like Heaven" is a romantic tale of love across the boundaries of our physical and metaphysical worlds. It follows David (Mark Ruffalo) who is visited in his new apartment by Elizabeth, a pretty, but controlling woman who appears insisting the apartment is hers and then mysteriously disappears. Convinced Elizabeth is a ghost, David tries to help her cross over to the other side, but Elizabeth is equally convinced that she is still alive. As Elizabeth and David search for the truth about her present state, their relationship deepens into love. Unfortunately, they have little time before their prospects for a future together permanently fade away.

EVERYTHING IS ILLUMINATED soundtrack due Sept 20

TVT SOUNDTRAX TO RELEASE ‘EVERYTHING IS ILLUMINATED’ SDTK ON SEPTEMBER 20th

FEATURING MUSIC FROM GOGOL BORDELLO, XX, XX, XX

TVT is proud to release the soundtrack for the forthcoming theatrical release Everything Is Illuminated. The soundtrack, released on September 20th features a score by composer Paul Cantelon (formerly of The Wild Colonials) and the music of the wildly inventive gypsy punk rock band Gogol Bordello, who make a cameo in the film and whose front man Eugene Hutz co-stars in the lead role opposite Elijah Wood. Hutz was originally approached to compose some music for the film and after an exhaustive casting search with no results, Liev Schreiber realized he had the perfect person to play the part right in front of him.

Everything Is Illuminated, to be released by Warner Independent Film on September 16th, is an adaptation of the novel by Jonathan Safran Foer and is the directorial debut of renowned actor Liev Schreiber. The story begins with an eccentric young man played by Elijah Wood traveling to the Ukraine to research his family roots, most importantly a mystery woman who helped his grandfather during World War II. His journey is aided by two locals played by Eugene Hutz in his first foray on the big screen and his ornery grandfather who goes nowhere without his insane dog. What starts out as a journey to piece together one family's story under the most absurd circumstances turns into a surprisingly meaningful journey with a powerful series of revelations.

VALIANT soundtrack in stores 8/16

High-Flying "Valiant Soundtrack" Soars into Stores August 16th on Walt Disney Records

BURBANK, Calif.--Aug. 10, 2005--Walt Disney Records marches the Valiant Soundtrack into stores double-time on August 16, 2005! The soundtrack to Valiant Walt Disney Pictures' newest computer-animated comedy-adventure, sets the tone for the heroic World War II tale by perfectly capturing the musical feel of the '30s and '40s with original music composed by four-time Academy Award(R) and two-time Grammy(R) nominee George Fenton (Gandhi, Dangerous Liaisons).

Valiant, the newest offering from the producer of Shrek and Shrek 2, is a tale of a brave-but-undersized pigeon (voiced by Ewan McGregor) who dreams of joining the elite Royal Homing Pigeon Service and serving crown and country during World War II. With a shortage of wing power in the royal fleet due to increased attacks by a brigade of vicious enemy falcons, the mission falls to Valiant and the unlikely heroes of Squad F to try to save the day. With a wing and a prayer, Valiant and his fine-feathered pals fly into harm's way and prove that it's not the size of the wingspan that counts, but the size of the spirit. Walt Disney Pictures' Valiant will open in theatres nationwide on August 19, 2005.

Composer George Fenton captures the spirit of the movie with a sweeping, diverse score performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra that shows life for the Royal Homing Pigeons is anything but a day in the park. Fenton hearkens back to the era of classic World War II films with the proud, martial air of "Valiant" and "March of the R.H.P.S." The playful swing music of "Arrival at Camp" lightens the mood before lindy hopping listeners into the dramatic and ominous "Von Talon and the Bastion." "Winged Heroes (Adagio and Fanfare)" takes the score full circle with its triumphantly victorious tone.

Rounding out the soundtrack is the end credit song "Shoo Shoo Baby" performed by recording artists Mis-Teeq and produced by Phil Ramone.

On August 16, 2005, the Valiant soundtrack will be available wherever music is sold.

MURDERBALL soundtrack now available

Commanded by tracks from Ministry, Ween, The Moldy Peaches and Sam Prekop, and woven together by a striking score by composer Jamie Saft, Music from the film Murderball captures all the grit and emotion of the award-winning, action-packed documentary.

Both intimate and adrenaline-filled, music fuels the tale of the U.S. Quad Rugby Team's quest for gold in the Paralympic Games in Athens, Greece. Mirroring the range of emotions in the film, this highly listenable collection of songs features two churning tracks from Ministry, electronic jam from guitar gurus Ween, a sweetly satirical tune from The Moldy Peaches, as well as a track from Chicago icon/The Sea and Cake's Sam Prekop. Keyboardist Jamie Saft lays down a stunning score to round out the album.

Full-contact wheelchair rugby, a cut-throat rivalry between the U.S. and Canada, and compelling personal on and off-the-court stories are the thrust of the film by Henry Alex Rubin, Dana Adam Shapiro and Jeff Mandel. The filmmakers smash stereotypes about the handicapped, exploring the lives of men who have to redefine for themselves what it is to be a winner, what it is to be a man, and what it is to live a full life.

Murderball has earned tremendous success. The documentary garnered the Audience Award and a Special Jury Prize for Editing at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival, screened at the prestigious New Directors/New Films series, and is already generating a lot of critical acclaim.
